Energy Supplements

Whew!  It’s been a long day… You had to get up early and drag yourself to work or school, and then there were errands to run, and latest personal problem has been weighing on your mind.  Right at this moment your energy levels aren’t exactly at their peak, and now it is time to start your workout at the gym where you need to be able to spend the next hour or so pushing earth shattering amounts of weight without resting very much.  The last word someone would use to describe you at this moment would be “hyper”, and someone at the gym accidentally tried to hang their coat on you because you were moving around so slowly.  It’s time to stop by your local Olympus Sports Nutrition store and pick up some supplements that will give you the energy you need to blast into hyper-drive.  If you want to win contests, you need to blaze through your workout like a fiery comet and, luckily for you, there are products that will help you make sure your get-up-and-go hasn’t gone-up-and-went.

Maintaining your energy levels does a lot more than enable you to perform intense workouts; it will also help you keep focussed.  Keeping your mind in gear is a key part in having a successful workout.  In addition, most products that help us produce energy also aid in the process that converts fats to energy, so you not only have the energy to smash the iron, you will also get rid of more fat while you add muscle.  It is safe to say that there probably is not any one out there reading this magazine that would be against adding muscle and burning more fat.  Finally, having high levels of energy makes you feel better and happier, and then you will be more motivated to do the things you enjoy. 
There is one quick word of caution before we get started.  Many supplements that enhance energy levels have some sort of effect on our neurological systems.  Therefore, you should be sure that you have had a recent physical and consulted your physician to ensure that you are physically capable of handling stimulating supplements.  Having phenomenal workouts is important, but so is your health.  Therefore, make sure that you don’t have any conditions that may create an adverse affect to energy enhancing supplements before you make them part of your daily routine.
You must also be responsible when using any type of energy enhancing supplement.  “More is better” is not a safe or smart attitude to have, and it may be necessary to cycle the use of the supplement in order to keep your body’s receptors from becoming saturated to the point that the supplement’s effect is lost unless higher dosages are taken.  Always use your head when training your body.
Whenever the subject of energy supplements is brought up, the most obvious choice is caffeine.  Coffee machines can be found in almost any workspace, home kitchen, restaurant, or any other place people go.  Just try to drive through any city where there is not a coffee shop.  Caffeine is the most commonly used “drug” on the planet.  It is estimated that in the United States, almost 90% of all adults consume some product with caffeine in it on a daily basis.  Its popularity is founded on the fact that it although it is an effective stimulant, caffeine still remains relatively safe as long as it is not consumed in extremely high dosages.
