Portsmouth UKBFF Show 2008
Text and photos by Alex McKenna
Men’s 90 kg
1st: Daniel Hann (Pro-Lab, Bristol) A definite contender for the British, Dan’s got the complete package I think. No real problem areas, as far as body parts are concerned, and hard condition. Narrow waist, wide shoulders, and a rather good sweep to his quads.
2nd: Gary Scales (Cheetahs gym, Hove) One massive guy, with plenty of muscle size in all sectors. Maybe a bit lacking in condition and tan though.
3rd: Michael Lawler (Bodylimits, St. Albans) Quite a bit of size and potential, but rather smooth in comparison to the other guys.
Men’s Over 90kg
1st: Dotun Diya (Muscleworks, Bethnal Green) A perfect, classy physique, whose time has come. Very tidy and healthy looking, and perfect proportions. Nothing out of scale.
2nd: Roy McLean (Fitness First, Eastbourne) One of the most impressive men in the whole show. Wide back, massive quads and calves. One hell of a monster but still everything looks right, which is more than you can say for some monsters these days. No names or I will be road-kill.
3rd: Zana Ibrahim (Empire gym, Bristol) A great new physique on the block. He’s not quite there yet, but he has the size and potential to be a heavyweight champ.
Also competing: Dan Parker (Cloud 9, Shanklin) the biggest man on stage, apart from the guest stars, but he seems to have lost a bit of his hardness though. Definitely needs to revamp his training and pre contest stuff. What’s the worst that can happen? Also Florian Olteanu (Portsmouth) another big guy with plenty of mass, but lacking in density and detail.
Overall Mr. South Coast
Lee Williams although the UKBFF doesn’t really do the “Overall Winner” thing these days the South Coast always has, and this year my fellow photographer Lee fought off quite a line-up. Not bad for a middleweight, eh Lee!
